Minutes from February 23, 2004
Members in attendance:
Sue Fosco, Victoria Otto, Janine Shinn, Jen Pistorius, Garen Lazier, Judy Harwood, Bob Todd, Larry Petrillo, Al Galatte, Robin Strauss, Carol Myers, Terry Theobald, Krista Settles, Gayle Carzoli, & Marek Ciborowski
I. Mixed Pairs
Mixed Pairs was cancelled due to IHSA ruling that may put the boys eligibility in jeopardy.
Ideas for next year were discussed:
• Girls All Star meet
• National qualifying meet before nationals
• Summer meet

II. Fundraising
Ideas were discussed:
• Cartwheel-a-thon
• Jewel days
• Cosmic Bowl
• Chili Fest
• 50/50 raffle at Fall Clinic
Robin Straus will discuss with her conference about running a Cosmic Bowl for gymnasts & adults.

III. Amendments
A) “Character of a gymnast will be used as a criterion when the IHSGGCA is bestowing an honor upon a gymnast.”
B) “Coaches must be in good standing by the first working Monday in January
to nominate a gymnast.”C) “The executive board shall be comprised of 5 members: President, Past
President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.”D) “Mailings shall refer to email and that only the first mailing of the year will be
written.”E) “Hall of Fame award winners shall assume half the cost of the ring is they
desire a ring.”Amendments all passed by unanimous vote

IV. Voting Procedures
A) Coach of the Year
• Members vote for the IHSGGCA “Coach of the Year”
-members vote on form with Conference Representatives
-include school conference on membership form
B) Assistant Coach of the Year
• Designed to get people involved
• Do to low number of assistant coaches membership, we will only give certificates to the asst coach of the year from each conference
• Head coaches should include assistant coaches emails on registration form

V. Membership & Involvement
• Suggested that we have a table at the NED Fall Retreat at Lake Geneva to get memberships and register for Fall Clinic.
• Add email addresses for Asst. coaches to Head coaches form.
• Separate Forms for membership and the Fall Clinic
• Glenbard South is in great jeopardy of losing their Boys’ & Girls’ Gymnastics programs. The board meeting was Mon., Feb. 22. Only 1 representative of the girls association was in attendance. We need to get involved or prepare to lose our programs. Watch email for when the board will vote on cutting the program.
• We will continue to promote the IHSGGCA at the IHSA rules interp meetings

Please help us fill in these holes! We need a representative from each conference! We are asking the conference rep to attend the Association meetings. There are only 3-4 meetings a year.

VII. Officers for 2004-2005

Secretary Janine Shinn
Treasurer Jen Pistorius
Past President Sue Fosco (will maintain the website, too)
All offices were passed by a unanimous vote. Robin Straus nominated Judy Harwood & Carol Myers seconded. Members present voted to maintain current secretary & treasurer.

VIII. New Business
It was proposed that we change the constitution amendment process so that it would not require 3 meetings to pass an amendment.
Discussion will be at the next meeting in the fall.

IX. National Team
The candidates chosen for the National team by a unanimous vote of the members present are:
Danyelle Aber
Lindsay Borkan
Jamie Buckley
Katie Burke
Kate Kuchel
Michelle Mc Grady
Rachel Paney

The coaches for the National Team are: Judy Harwood, Larry Petrillo & Janine Shinn.
The National Meet is in Ft. Worth, TX on May 20th & 21st.
The fee for the participants will be higher this year due to lack of funds.
Thanks to Judy Harwood & Larry Petrillo for helping with leotards for the team.
*We will take donations from members to help defray the cost.*

X. John Brinkworth Scholarship

• The date was extended to March 1st.
• The girls and boys award will be presented at Boys’ State meet at Barrington HS.
• Next year the deadline will be January 10th at the seating meeting.

XI. Advisory Board
Gayle Carzoli asked for suggestions to take to the Advisory Board.
Multiple ideas were discussed and suggested by the members present.
Al Galatte moved to adjourn. Carol Myers seconded. Meeting adjourned at 9:50 pm.
