   II.                Season Change

An open discussion about possibly changing the season if effected by Cheerleading and other sports for girls was held. There were many against changing the season. We also discussed the different seasons that we have had gymnastics in the past. The pros and cons were discussed. The change, if it happens, would not be in affect for a few years.

  III.             Hall of Fame Banquet

The banquet will be February 26th at the Morava Center at 7 pm. The cost is $10.

We will be inducting members into the Hall of Fame and presenting the Asst. Coach of the Year.

RSVP forms are due by Feb. 9th!!!

IV.             USAG Meet at Niles North H.S.

This is a fundraiser for IHSGGCA and National Team! We need people to work the competition. Coaches, gymnasts, parents, siblings, spouses and anyone else is welcome to work. We strongly encourage national team hopefuls to work. We will be done in time for the Hall of Fame banquet.

  V.                Casino Night

We made $2500 working Casino Night! We do not know how this amount is determined however. Coaches who are members of both associations could possibly clarify this?

 VI.             Expenses

Expenses this year are HUGE! We have Hall of Fame inductees’ plaques and rings which run $200, Senior Gymnast, Head Coach of the Year, Asst. Coach of the Year plaques, Special Awards of Appreciation given at State Meet, John Brinkworth Scholarship, and National Team. The National Meet is in Orlando this year so it will be a larger expense this year.

If you hosted an Invite, please consider giving some of the proceeds to the John Brinkworth Scholarship or the National Team. We give $250 every year to the John Brinkworth Scholarship.

  VII.          T-shirt Sales

T-shirt sales have been going well! As of today we should be sold out or close to it. The black shirts are sold out! The shirts sold for $12 a piece and cost us $5 a shirt and $20 screen fee for each order. We made 2 orders. We should make at least $1500 off the sales.

Any ideas for next year would be welcome!

  VIII.       Cosmic Bowling

We are going to try to keep it the first Monday of Winter Break.

There were 10 teams this year. There were boys & girls teams and fun was had by ALL. WE made approximately $600.

  IX.             State Meet Concerns

Some topics discussed were: Regional dates so 1 Sectional was done before some had Regionals, inconsistency of judges at Regionals that all feed into a Sectional, method to determine Sectionals, Judges assignments, IHSA not responding to request to host Sectionals, wrong order on the website to enter line-ups, IHSA storing past records from State Series, seeding process and number of meets and guidelines for schools that do not show at seeding meetings.

Further discussion will be held at the next meeting!

Advisory board reps are: Gayle Carzioli, Scott Hagel, Vicki Munch and the AD from Mundelein (?). They have a meeting in March and have been invited to OUR next meeting to hear our concerns and then present them at the Advisory Board meeting in March.

  X.                Voting for Head Coach of the Year and Asst. Coach of the Year

4 Options were presented and voted on. The winning vote was for each Head Coach who is a member in good standing to be given 1 vote for Head Coach and 1 vote for Asst. Coach. Asst. coaches who are in good standing, are to pool there votes so each school’s asst. coaches have 1 combined vote for Head Coach and 1 combined vote for Asst. Coach. This translates to each school having 4 total votes, 2 from the Head Coach and 2 from the Asst. Coaches.

All members in good standing vote for all other awards regardless of Head or Asst.

The ballot is on the website and needs to be turned in by Feb. 9th.

Conference Reps please be sure your schools vote!

 XI.             John Brink worth Scholarship
