Members in attendance:
Sue Fosco, Victoria Otto, Janine Shinn, Jen Pistorius, Garen Lazier, Judy
Harwood, Bob Todd, Larry Petrillo, Al Galatte, Robin Strauss, & Carol Myers.
I. Amendments Discussions
a) Larry Petrillo moved to discuss the character clause. Garen Lazier seconded.
“Character of a gymnast will be used as a criterion when the IHSGGCA is
bestowing an honor upon a gymnast.”Larry Petrillo moved to accept the above
clause. Al Galatte seconded.
The above amendment will be voted on at the February 23rd meeting.
b) Al Galatte moved to accept the good
standing clause to nominate a gymnast. Carol Myers seconded.
The above amendment will be voted on at the February 23rd meeting.
c) Carol Myers moved to accept the amendment
to make executive board 5 members. Bob Todd seconded.
The above amendment will be voted on at the February 23rd meeting.
d) Al Galatte moved to accept the amendment
that mailings refer to email and that only the first mailing of the year will be
written. Larry Petrillo seconded.
The above amendment will be voted on at the February 23rd meeting.
e) Larry Petrillo moved accept the amendment
that Hall of Fame award winners assume half the cost of the ring is they desire
a ring. Robin Strauss seconded.
The above amendment will be voted on at the February 23rd meeting.
II. Mixed Pairs
• Discussion of Format with agreement on new
format.
• Deadline to enter gymnast – Monday, Feb. 8
• Publicize the Mixed Team Meet as much as possible
• Workers needed since the IHSGGCA has assumed the responsibility of running
the meet. Contact Sue Fosco.
III. Fundraising
“Split the Pot” money from January Invites
to Jen Pistorius at 922 Garden Park, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
IV. New Business
• Senior Gymnasts Nominations, as well as
nominees for judge of the year, special appreciation award and newspaper writer
of the year Entries on website
Fax vote with name & school to Victoria Otto at (847)432-7827 by February
13th. Only vote for one.

Special thanks to Dr. Christine Lawless for her presentation and discussion on
preventing injuries specific to gymnastics!!
Let’s hope for more than 7 members at the
February meeting. Our future depends on more than 7 members. The February
meeting has been changed to February 24th. At 6:45. CPDU’s will be offered for
the Hot Topic “Dealing with Fear in Gymnastics” . Nominations for the
National Team will be discussed after the speaker. Voting for next year’s
IHSGGCA officers will also occur after the speaker.

JOHN BRINKWORTH SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Supporting organizations:
IHSGGCA, IHSGCC, IHSGGJA, NHSGCA, IL. USAG, NHSF
-Awarded to: 1 female and 1 male, graduating H.S. senior gymnast
-Award will be presented at the Mixed Pairs meet by members of the Brinkworth
family.
-Qualifications for the award: Dedicated to the sport of gymnastics,
excellent work ethic in the gym and at school, courage and perseverance as
demonstrated in their gymnastics and personal life, enthusiasm and team
spirit.**Must submit 3 letters of recommendation from gymnastics coaches and
teachers**
-Selection committee: Vicki Munch, Ed Raymond, Betty Axelson, Pete Hemmerling
-Proposed award: Plaque and money for each recipient and a plaque that stays
with the Brinkworth Family with names engraved for each year.*Proposed plaque
donor: Dekan Athletic Equipment Co-Jerry Fontana.
The IHSGGCA has donated $100.00 to the scholarship fund for 2003-04.
